My Microscopes:Leitz Monocular ~1899-1907

Leitz monocular with box

This instrument was given to me by a friend who used it when she was a medical student. I am told it dates from around 1899 - 1907. It has two objectives: 10x and 63x, 170 mm tube length.

Coarse focus is by manually sliding the tube in its mount. Fine focus is by means of the knob at the top of the column. It produces a good image, but is tricky to use at high magnification, especially in the absence of a mechanical stage.

A nice old microscope.
